On The Throne With Queendom Member, Dr. Nicole Christian-Braithwaite

Do you have a favorite quote or book you can share?

“The quality of strength lined with tenderness is an unbeatable combination, as are intelligence and necessity when unblunted by formal education. ”

~ Maya Angelou, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings

“Instead, pursue the things you love doing, and then do them so well that people can’t take their eyes off you.”     ~ Maya Angelou, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings

Who is your favorite “shero” and why?

My mother Alicia Christian.  She went from being homeless and losing everything to starting her own non-profit organization, to helping homeless families and children. She is an activist and soldier in the fight against discrimination of any kind. She is one of the most self-sacrificing people I have ever met. We used to go out in Philly and we would frequently be stopped by strangers thanking my mother for saving them or their family from the nightmare of homelessness.

What’s something you’re passionate about?

Mental health in the black community and helping traumatized children heal

Success in your book is…?

To be able to use my knowledge and skills to help patients, friends and family who are suffering from mental or medical illness. I would also define success as finding a healthy balance between work and personal life.

In the end, if my life served to help positively shape the life of another person, then I was successful.

If a reality show were being made about you, what would its title be?

Hmmm… This is a hard question… LOL!

For what are you most grateful?

Honestly, everything. I don’t deserve the career, friends or love I have been blessed with. I have too much to be grateful for.

Favorite childhood game or toy?

My curious George stuffed animal

What song always gets you on the dance floor?

Anything by Shabba Ranks or old school hip-hop by artists like Dougie Fresh, Biz Markie etc

What mark do you want to leave on the world?

That my life fulfilled its purpose to speak for those without a voice and to fight for children
